On the occasion of Fashion Week in Berlin, shopping queen darling and design star Guido Maria Kretschmer judged: "The era of supermodels is over. Today they are all interchangeable."

Berlin in a state of emergency. Even more fashionistas than usual will be in the European hipster metropolis over the next few weeks, and designers like Austrian Lena Hoschek and Kaviar Gauche will be presenting their latest collections. Including Guido Maria Kretschmer. The fact that the 49-year-old is one of the most successful fashion designers in Germany is easily forgotten because of his TV presence.
With his new line, Kretschmer is trying to rejuvenate his fashion. "This year I was inspired by the play of light and shadow. The theme is implemented through sophisticated cut-outs, specially designed patterns and a reduced selection of colors. I want to use it to reach younger women too …" the designer told the German magazine Bunte.
Models are interchangeable
He thinks it's great that more and more people are interested in fashion, designers and models, says Guido. However, the era of the supermodels is probably over for good. "I think that due to the mass of new faces in the fashion business, careers like those of Claudia Schiffer and Nadja Auermann are over. Models are exchanged much faster these days. But that doesn't matter, because every girl has a chance, the star one Becoming an advertising campaign or strutting down a catwalk. Many girls now have the opportunity to become models. And that's great!"
