"In my astrological experience, the ascendant mostly comes to the fore in the middle of life and thus lets the typical zodiac characteristics take a back seat," says WOMAN astrologer Turid Pichler. She explains how to calculate the ascendant and why the sign plays an important role, especially in relationships.

What is an ascendant?

The ascendant provides information about our personal goals and tasks in life. It describes our strengths and weaknesses and provides information about our own thought patterns and actions. "Only the combination of the zodiac sign and the ascendant results in a personal, astrological fingerprint of a horoscope", our astrologer is certain.

Only through the ascendant (that is the respective zodiac sign that rose at the time of birth on the eastern horizon) are the planets assigned to the respective 12 different zodiac houses and only then is the individuality of a person determined.

Charisma to others

It is the ascendant that determines how we affect others. Our physical charisma emanates from it - that is why it also symbolizes the I and how we approach our environment.

The ascendant also shows us which additional (perhaps hidden) talents and abilities we have besides the zodiac sign. We should definitely awaken these and use them consciously. But it also brings to light our weaknesses, which we should work on in order to be able to fulfill our personal development plan.
