Actress Anne Hathaway has explained why she stopped drinking alcohol because of her three-year-old son - and we take our hats off to so much consistency!

To drink or not to drink alcohol - an extremely personal choice and something that is rarely discussed in public. So when the actress Anne Hathaway explained in an interview why she decided to stop drinking alcohol, we were all ears.
In January she announced to Ellen DeGeneres that she wanted to avoid alcohol until her three-year-old son is 18. She came to this decision after a bad, hungover couple of days. In an interview with Boston Common Magazine, she has now elaborated on this project. She is and has never been an alcoholic, but rather an occasional and party drinker, like many of us:
Why I stopped drinking
“I didn't stop drinking because it was a problem. I stopped drinking because I always have a bad hangover - and it's a problem. My last hangover dragged on for 5 days. And in my position as a young mother, I just can't afford this time. I'll drink again, but only when my child is out of the house!"
In the interview, however, she emphasized again that she does not want to impose her opinion or decision on anyone, and that everyone should decide for themselves whether to drink alcohol - or not!
“Most people certainly don't have to go to such an extreme. I don't think alcohol is bad per se. And I enjoy drinking too - just not so much the next day. I'm not doing this to play moral standards!"
Quite honestly - we understand you - a hangover is simply not the same at 30 as it is at 20. And we take our hats off to so much consistency! You go, girl!
