Some airlines around the world weigh before boarding the plane: For example, Hawaiian Airlines, especially on their flight between Honolulu to Pago Pago in American Samoa, because on average 3/4 of all passengers on this route are very overweight. The reason given in this case is safety: you have to distribute the weight of all passengers regularly in the aircraft cabin and therefore the choice of seat is only regulated when boarding.
Uzbekistan Airways does the same. Samoa Air already charges a surcharge depending on the weight.
Data collecting madness: Shopping could also make your ticket more expensive
Even your shopping behavior could be the reason for a more expensive plane ticket! Because the credit card provider Mastercard has developed a system that saves all your size information from clothing purchases and thus allows conclusions to be drawn about the weight or size. Mastercard would make this data available to the airlines.
