Laughing heartily has a similar positive effect on the body as moderate running training. That alone makes us a lot happier!

We have already learned that laughter is not only good for us, it is also healthy. But it's not just our diaphragm that is trained when giggling and laughing extensively, no, a good fit of laughter has a similarly positive effect on us, as does moderate endurance training, for example.
Instead of a ride on the bike, just watch a funny film in the future? Yes and no. Because building muscle or even burning calories cannot stimulate a hearty laugh. However, a study by Lee S. Berk's team at Loma Linda University in California showed that there are other positive effects.
During the study, adult people were presented with funny and sad film clips, while blood pressure and the levels of the appetite-controlling hormones grehlin and leptin were measured in the blood. If you had something to laugh about, your blood pressure was more in the normal range and the film was appetizing. Similar to, for example, gentle running training.
Which doesn't mean that laughing makes you hungrier. But people who have poor appetite due to old age or depression may be positively affected by laughing regularly. In healthy people, laughing in front of the television is no substitute for regular exercise. Damage can hardly laugh - so you should take every fun opportunity! After all, a "few" muscles (17 in the face, up to 300 all over the body) are set in motion when you shake them out in amusement!
