Anyone who frequently suffers from constipation should first and foremost change their diet. We'll show you which foods will help you in the toilet!

When digestion isn't working properly, it leads to constipation, gas, or abdominal pain. The wrong diet is usually to blame, because white bread, cake, chocolate or too much cheese, eggs and sugar cause problems for our intestines. The result: we can no longer go to the bathroom without exertion.
These foods will get your bowels going again

1. Drink, drink, drink
Lack of fluids is the skin problem with constipation. The best way to start your day is with 2 glasses of warm water. Make sure you drink at least 2 liters throughout the day. Water, mineral water, fruit and vegetable juices, herbal teas, soups and occasionally coffee are suitable. Many people benefit from a great Café Americano - a thin coffee with plenty of water.
2. Whole grains
Instead of white bread, you should use whole grain bread. The more often you eat whole grains, the healthier and, above all, more active your digestive system becomes. So it's best to start with a muesli in the morning or choose a wholegrain roll with vegetables!

3. Fruits
Aside from the vitamins found in fruits, the raw and well ripened fruits also aid digestion. Therefore, you should eat one serving of fruit at least twice a day. Our tip: Muesli with fruit and nuts in the morning is the perfect choice!
4. Vegetables
The more fiber (dietary fiber that the human intestines cannot process) there is in a food, the better your digestion will work. Especially lettuce, radish, tomatoes, Brussels sprouts, aubergines, onions, asparagus, fennel, radishes, kohlrabi, Chinese cabbage, chicory, lamb's lettuce, broccoli, spinach leaves, mushrooms, peppers, leeks, beetroot, savoy cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, red cabbage, white cabbage and celeriac are high in fiber.

5. Legumes
Many people think that legumes further promote constipation. But that's actually wrong, because they also contain a lot of fiber, which practically "trains" your intestines. Lentils, chickpeas, beans and all kinds of nuts should therefore be regularly on the menu!
6. Dried fruit
Dried fruits can help with constipation and hard stools. Prunes in particular have proven their worth with many. The high fructose content acts like a natural laxative. Our tip: Soak a few dried plums in warm water overnight and eat and drink the water the next morning.
7. Bran
Wheat bran contains an excessive amount of fiber and is therefore very digestive. If you take one to three tablespoons of wheat bran daily with enough liquid, you will have easier bowel movements. Bran should always be eaten in combination with yogurt, fruit juice, water or soups. Make sure to let it swell in the liquid before consumption!
