Constantly catching a cold? We'll show you how to use essential oils to make your immune system really fit for the winter.
When thinking of essential oils, many people first think of scented oils for the home. The essences have been used as remedies for centuries. Especially in the cold and wet season, essential oils can be a real miracle cure and strengthen the immune system. Physiotherapist & aromatherapy specialist Nadine Petzel explains how we can use the oils to get through the winter healthily.
"Essential oils have a positive effect on the immune system by supporting the body's self-healing powers," explains Nadine Petzel. She herself uses the essential oils to accompany her therapies, therapies and massages. "Plants produce essential oils in order to adapt to their environmental conditions and to ward off bacteria, viruses or fungi," explains the expert. "Pure, unadulterated ethereal essences also offer us humans a multitude of possible positive effects."
The oil strengthens the body's defenses and gives the soul light in stressful times. It has a harmonizing, calming effect and is ideal for the skin. "It's best to put a few drops of it on the pillow or on the soles of your feet," recommends Nadine Petzel. In her practice she works exclusively with 100% natural essential oils of therapeutic quality.
Tip from the expert: "You can just add a few drops of the oil to the organic detergent - then the laundry smells wonderful."
Cinnamon & clove
The essential oils of the cinnamon bark & clove act like a natural antibiotic. It prevents bacteria from growing and can therefore be used primarily for colds. "Either you inhale the oil directly from the bottle or atomize it with a diffuser," explains the physiotherapist.
Rosemary improves mental clarity & alertness. It mainly helps with weak drive and relaxes the muscles. If you have a cold, it can work wonders! You just put a few drops of the oil in a bowl of hot water, put a towel over your head and inhale the steam deeply and slowly so that you can breathe freely again. But it can also be massaged into painful areas. "Pure essential essences should always be diluted with a fatty carrier oil before they are applied to the skin," advises Nadine Petzel. "Simply massage in in circular movements and repeat if necessary."
Oregano & thyme
Oregano oil and thyme oil are particularly suitable for coughs or respiratory diseases. It contributes to the quick healing of the infections. It is best to massage the oil directly onto the soles of your feet. Since pure oregano oil can have a very hot effect when applied to the skin, mixing it with a pure vegetable oil is absolutely recommended.
"I love Young Living lemon oil! It can be used in a variety of ways. The scent immediately invigorates body and soul. The immune system is supported and you feel invigorated and fresh! Just rub a few drops in the palms of your hands in between during work and smell it - you can already see the effect!
