As soon as the bag of chips is open, it is already emptied. It's like an addiction! A study has now shown why we can't stop at chips.

Otherwise you are actually a disciplined person. "Just a piece of cake for me!" (okay: two). But one thing is going to make you food berserk: potato chips. As soon as the pack is open, it is fed empty. A small bowl? Not really. The entire bag of chips is emptied down to the last small crumb.
However, you are not an isolated case with your addictive behavior. Now scientists reassure us. You figured out why we just can't stop at chips.
The reason you always eat your chips up completely
In an article published in the "Journal of Nutrition", the nutritionists explain: It is not the fat that makes us addicted - even if that is of course an important flavor carrier in crisps. The real culprit is something else….
SALT! According to science, we eat an average of eleven percent more from salty foods. And thus eleven percent more calories than from any normal spicy meal (here you can find out which foods contain a particularly high amount of salt).
For the study, the eating behavior of test persons when consuming salted and unsalted meals was precisely analyzed - and the results are clear: the salty the dishes, the more people ate of them.
What does that mean for us? We will increasingly use herbs when seasoning our dishes. Because eleven percent … that's a lot. What about chips? From now on we will rely on these homemade alternatives where we have the salt content under control ourselves: Parmesan and zucchini chips, kale chips or no-carb chips.
