Everyone knows them - the small, crunchy, refreshing pieces! Practically packaged, they fit in every pocket and are always easy to take with you. They ensure fresh breathing, reduce stress and can be good for your teeth. So it's no wonder that more than 100 per capita are consumed in Austria every year!

Chewing gum: gum made from petroleum
Ordinary plastic is hidden behind the word “gum” on the list of ingredients: petroleum-based plastic and chemicals such as polyethylene and polyvinyl acetate - a microplastic polymer. The fact is, chewing gum is not much different than chewing on a car tire or a plastic bottle. Not biodegradable, chewing gum ends up as microplastic in the ocean at some point. The chewing gum also contains artificial colors and flavors, thickeners, antioxidants, flavor enhancers and much more. And we've been chewing them carefree for years. A bit scary, isn't it?
The alternative: True Gum
Precisely this knowledge is the origin of True Gum. Four friends got together to shuffle the cards in the chewing gum game. No more plastic, artificial flavors and sweeteners like aspartame. They loved chewing gum, but not what else is on the market - so they made their own. A plastic-free chewing gum that is vegan and biodegradable.
“We were shocked to learn that regular chewing gum is made of plastic. Now we are doing everything we can for our small startup to show that it is possible to produce delicious, plastic-free chewing gum "«
says Peter Juul Regnersgaard, co-founder of True Gum.

An environmentally friendly choice
True Gum consists only of herbal ingredients. No chemical plastics are used, only natural rubber from the sap of sapodilla trees from the Central American jungle. It is harvested using a technique that has been around for hundreds of years. The procedure doesn't require felling trees - it actually helps preserve the forest.
The taste is achieved through 100% natural aromas from plants. Sugar-free and sweetened with xylitol, obtained from birch, and stevia. The packaging is also sustainable and made of paper.
Different types of True Gum: mint, ginger & turmeric, raspberry & vanilla and liquorice & eucalyptus. In Austria you can find them on the shelves of DM, Billa and Merkur!
