Two WOMAN readers have tested it!

For eight days, two WOMAN readers had the chance to experience the mobility of the future: four of them in a BMW i3 and four in a Skoda Octavia G-TEC, made available by Energie AG Oberösterreich. Here they report on their experiences.
KATHRIN BIRKLBAUER, GRÜNBACH
»“My friends all noticed immediately what a performance this little runabout has, which puts a smile on everyone's face. Everyone thought it was great that it was so quiet.”

After four days with the BMW i3, it was clear to her that it was great to drive with electricity - especially in the city, because short distances were effortlessly covered and parking was super easy thanks to the compact dimensions. And the first experiences with the performance of an electric motor were impressive: “My friends all noticed immediately the power of this little speedster that puts a smile on everyone's face. Everyone thought it was great that it was so quiet."
The only shortcoming that the Grünbacher noticed were the long charging times: “At home, the i3 has to be plugged into the socket all night long - but it's like charging my cell phone when I come home!” So it's a habit … And yet you are with the electric car still restricted: "You absolutely have to plan the charging stations for an excursion."
Kathrin is also enthusiastic about the Skoda Octavia. In terms of handling, it does not differ from a "gasoline engine", it offers sufficient space and is easy to refuel. What she particularly likes is that they cover long distances in a natural gas car and still have a significantly lower impact on the environment.
LISA KRANAWETTER, NEUHOFEN
»“Great experience, were marveled at on the autobahn! Refueled once, but only driven with natural gas!”

Appearance, handling, easy parking and problem-free charging convinced the Neuhofen resident of the BMW i3. The only thing she is not satisfied with is the range, because she would not make the way to work - a full battery is a must here. That is why the long charging time is noticeable: “A trip into the blue with the i3 is difficult to plan because you are very limited here.” Nevertheless, her own judgment and that of her friends are consistently positive: “Almost everyone thought the car was great and almost everyone was sure that they would actually buy the car!”On the other hand, one point that could play an important role in the purchase decision is the appearance - and this can, as is well known, be aptly arguable …
The Skoda Octavia already collected its first bonus points with its range. And even though someone else needed help with the first refueling, the second time she did it on her own. Both she and her friends loved the look, driving dynamics, space and functions of the car. The fact that the car can park “on its own” caused astonishment, but she doesn't find this feature particularly important. In the overall evaluation, the Skoda Octavia also got top marks from her.
OVERALL RATING
And so the two testers rated the individual aspects (according to the school grading system):
