Working in front of the PC is a strain on the eyes. The mostly suboptimal conditions in the home office don't make it any better. Five tips to help you see things clearly again.

I don't know about you, but when I'm in the home office, I stare into a small laptop in front of me. When I bought it, it was even important to me that it was compact and not too big. So that I can take it with me wherever I go. I now regret my decision. Because with every hour I sit in front of it on a working day, the device seems to shrink by a few centimeters. And at some point I have the feeling that I can't even look straight ahead.
"If our eyes are tired, our performance deteriorates, the body tends to become more tense, especially in the neck and shoulder area," says yoga teacher Barbara Rappauer.

With the bad news comes good news - five exercises that relax the eyes. A little tip: take off your glasses, contact lenses can stay inside.
diagonal
Close your eyes and take a deep breath. (So of course after you've read the article, otherwise it'll be difficult). Hold your breath, open your eyes, keep your head still and look alternately into the upper left and lower right corners of the eyes. Do this five times. Then close your eyes again, exhale and repeat the exercise. This time your pupils move from the top right to the bottom left.
Eye watch
Same procedure as above: Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Hold your breath, open your eyes, and imagine a clock face in front of your face. Look clockwise at the hour, starting at twelve. Keep your head still while doing this. After one lap, close your eyes and exhale. Do the exercise five times in one direction, then five more times in the other.
Proximity & distance
The eyes are open and will remain so. Bring your index finger so close to your nose that you can still focus it. Now look at a distant point in space and concentrate on that. When this one is hot for you, close your eyes. Hold your breath, open your eyes again and switch the focus between the near and distant point as quickly as possible. Always keep your eyes focused.
Eye massage
We know it: close your eyes, take a deep breath and hold your breath. Pat the muscles around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead. Exhale. Repeat five times.
Warm eyes
Rub your palms together firmly until they are warm. Close your eyes, take a deep breath. Put the warm palms of your hands on your closed eyes. Exhale and feel the stress release from your eyes.

Important: After the exercises, your vision may be blurred for a few minutes. This is harmless and completely normal. Meanwhile, you can use the time your eyes need to recover for a mini-mediation before you sit down in front of the Kasterl again. Or for a sun salutation. Or an ice cream. Or a piece of cake. Or both.
