Airy waves that look like you've just got off your surfboard. Modern permanent wave technology makes it possible.

Summer is here and with it a very special hairstyle: soft curls that make you look like like coming straight from the beach. It's not always that easy to implement if you don't happen to be a real California Beach Girl or go on vacation all year round. Fortunately, there is another solution for anyone who still wants to make this ultimate summer hairstyle their own: the perm.
Modern beach wave treatment
"Perm? Isn't that full of the 80s?" Some people probably ask, thinking of pictures of Madonna or Julia Roberts with a shrill lion's mane from that time. No not more! Perm is back in fashion - only better. There are now techniques that Promise gentler waves and gentler hair are. Basically, with such hair reshaping, the natural hair structure is changed by a chemical process. The intervention in the hair structure is so minimal with the new techniques that the entire Maintain elasticity and bounce remain. Perms have come a long way in hairstyle history - and can now be adapted to current hair trends. The motto is to create an effortless wavy look with more texture.
Beach feeling for the hair
It all sounds very promising. We wanted to know more about it, of course, and spoke to Sammy Husic, curling expert at Le Friseur in the 9th district. In his salon, the classic perm, as we used to know it, is no longer offered. "Today you want a high level of flexibility, control, natural movement and shapes with maximum hair protection Hair quality plays a much bigger roleas previously. The perm was completely reinvented for the so-called beach waves."
By the way, hair reshaping is possible for every type - and also for colored, highlighted or bleached hair.
And what about the offspring? "Nothing is forever," explains Husic. "It is the same with forming. The main thing is to create a good balance between the regrowing straight hair and the existing waveThe offspring adapts: The wave remains, but it gets weaker over time. You can let it grow out without any problems. Or you refresh it again at the base.
Styling and care - what do you have to pay attention to?
As a rule, you don't have to pay attention to anything special. The motto is "Let's Play!" The curls are incredibly versatile: "Whether simply kneading, air drying or reworking individual parts with various tools … everything is possible. In contrast to classic perms, with the new technologies you have and are in full control absolutely flexible in styling. Basically, the beach waves are easy to style and very time-saving, "says Husic. Hair care tailored to your own needs is of course important.

Personal conclusion
True to the motto “You always want what you don't have”, I wanted to have eeewig curls - the beautiful wavy hair of Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen) in Gossip Girl and Julianne Hough (Ariel Moore) in Footloose have it for me especially impressed. So I tried the beach wave treatment myself.

I don't get the impression that my hair has been damaged by the perm. In any case, the styling was actually very easy. Also cool: Dutts were made suddenly much more voluminous and held better!

Bad hair days were almost never there, because I have them messy out-of-bed look generally like. The only problem: I couldn't just get up in the morning without washing my hair or at least getting it wet. Sleeping misplaced and flattened my curls. So it was more of a fake-out-of-bed look;-)

A diffuser to put on the hair dryer was for me a real game changer. In addition, I mostly used styling gel for curls (Round Trip by Paul Mitchell) in damp hair. To knead and fix, I bought hairspray (Elnett from L’Oréal) and hair wax (Balea Matt Paste from dm). In general, it is important to ensure that you are properly moisturized, because if the curls are too dry, they will not fall as nicely.
